Welcome to the New Year’s edition of our school newsletter. We hope you enjoy looking back on our fun-filled and productive December / January images and memories. Signs of Spring are all around us and we are looking forward to longer, brighter days and another great term in St. Pat’s.

Thank you to all staff, pupils and parents who contributed to raising €3,500 of funds which will go towards creating a Sensory Room for our school. There was great enthusiasm and hard work involved in organising our Christmas shows, carol singing, our mega raffle and a cake sale. These events were thoroughly enjoyed by one and all. It was our first Christmas show since 2019 and it was great to see the hall full again. We will be holding more events in the future to raise funds for our Sensory Room and appreciate any contributions, big or small.

We raised €150 for St Vincent de Paul through our non-uniform day on 20th December.

We encourage a love for reading amongst all our pupils in St. Pat’s. This term our pupils from Junior Infants to 3rd class will be taking part in a 6 week Literacy Lift Off programme designed to improve children’s literacy skills and to enhance their enjoyment and confidence in reading and writing. Pupils in senior classes will be enjoying new novels and will be taking part in a literacy programme called TSI later in the term.

November 2022 Newsletter

Principal’s Desk

November 2022

Welcome to the November edition of our school newsletter. It has been another fun filled, interesting and busy month here in St Pat’s.

Science week got off to a great start in our school with Mr Griffin and 20 pupils from 4th, 5th and 6th class taking part in an exhibition day at University of Galway on Sunday 13th November. They demonstrated a variety of experiments to both young and old and did our school proud.

Our student council had their first meeting this month and have been coming up with great ideas on how to showcase all of the wonderful activities and resources which our school has to offer at our upcoming open day. Our open day for prospective pupils will take place this Thursday, 8th December from 12pm to 3pm. Please spread the word.

Well done to 6th class and our debating team who have been taking part in a debating competition with other local schools via zoom. Debating teaches valuable communication skills and how to prepare and effectively defend a point using facts and sound research.

We have lots planned for December including Carol Singing, Christmas shows, visits to the Live Crib and lots of active learning and fun in the lead up to the Christmas break.

October 2022

Welcome to the October edition of our school newsletter. It was a very busy and productive first half term in St. Pat’s and staff and students alike were well deserving of a rest over midterm break.

Along with all the interesting, engaging and interactive curricular work which goes on in our classrooms and school grounds daily, lots of other initiatives, projects and school outings have been taking place. Follow us on Facebook & Instagram for regular updates.

Ms. Staunton and Ms. Cunniffe coordinated the setting up of our new Student Council this month. The Student Council will represent the views of the students on matters of general concern to them and will enhance communication between students, staff and parents. The aim is also to promote friendship and respect among pupils. Their first project will be to consult and work with Ms Clancy. Ms Conway and local artist Dee Deegan on our Creative Schools Programme. Our Students Council will be rotated and a new committee will be elected at Easter 2023.

We have lots planned for November including science quizzes, a Coding Workshop with Corrib Computer Training (for the 6th class), a visit from the Killaloe Exploration Dome for all students and preparations for our Christmas shows.

September 2022 Newsletter

Principal’s Desk

September. 2022

Welcome to the September edition of our school newsletter. Class work and after-school curricular activities are now in full swing in St. Pat’s. It is great to see our pupils so enthusiastic and engaged in their school work and extracurricular activities. We have welcomed lots of new students to our school and hope that they have settled in well and are enjoying all that St. Pat’s has to offer.

Well done to the boys and girls who participated in the Galway Primary Schools Cross Country Championship in Renmore. Thank you to Ms. O’Doherty & Ms. Codyre for preparing our athletes. It was a great experience for them and St. Pat’s is very proud of all who took part.

We held a ceremony to raise our Green Flag for Water. Mr Conboy and the pupils on the Green School Committee worked very hard over the past couple of years to conserve water in our school and to educate pupils on how to prevent wasting water at home also. The committee used the Picker Pals Programme to help them in cleaning up the canals, rivers and beaches near St. Pat’s. Well done to all involved.

We have lots more planned for the coming months including trips to the City Library and to events in Baboró International Arts Festival for Children, setting up our new Student Council & beginning engagement on our Creative Schools Programme with the help of local artist, Dee Deegan.

Principal’s Desk

Welcome to the final edition of our newsletter for this school year. What a fun-filled month it has been with school tours, nature walks, sports days, music, library visits, Book Buddies sessions and fun in the garden. Thank you to all of our wonderful staff members for all their hard work.

Well done to all our athletes who participated in City Sports in Dangan and made our school proud. Thank you to their wonderful coaches Ms. O’Doherty and Ms. McCarthy.

Congratulations to Ms. O’Connell and all the teachers and pupils involved in winning the Discover Science & Maths Award 2022.

We bid farewell to our 6th class boys in an emotional Graduation ceremony. It was the end of an era in St. Pat’s as they were our last ever boys-only class. They are a wonderful bunch of boys, and we wish them a bright and happy future.

We are saying goodbye to two wonderful teachers, Ms Gaffney and Ms O’Halloran. We will miss them in St. Pat’s and we wish them all the best in their new schools. Bon Voyage to Ms. Ní Chonghaile who is taking a career break and planning a few adventures for the year ahead.

On behalf of all of the staff of St. Pat’s, I want to wish you all an enjoyable summer. We are looking forward to seeing the boys and girls again on 1st September.

Welcome to the May edition of our school newsletter. It was another very busy month in St. Pat’s and we look forward to lots more fun activities in June.

Well done to 2nd class and Mr. Conboy who organised a beautiful ceremony for First Communion. Congratulations also to all involved in winning awards for our school this month: Mayor’s Award for Culture, Arts & Cúrsaí Gaeilge and also the Mission Possible Award.

Thanks to staff, parents and pupils for their tremendous team effort in organising a lovely send-off for Mrs. Joan Coughlan following her retirement. Congratulations to Ms. Barrett and her husband who have welcomed a baby girl to their family.

The children and staff have worked very hard to complete the curriculum in an engaging and active manner this year. We have lots of fun activities to look forward to in June, including Sports Day, school tours, nature walks, fun in our school garden and our 6th class Graduation Ceremony. It will be another great month for all in St. Pat’s.

Welcome to the April edition of our school newsletter. I hope you all had a relaxing Easter break! It’s hard to believe the last term of the school year is now upon us.

A huge thank you to all who attended the Bake Sale & Coffee Morning before Easter, and to those who baked and donated items. It was a resounding success. Well done to Ms. Grace & Ms. Gaffney for co-ordinating.

We are looking forward to what will be a busy few weeks between now and the summer holidays. Excitement will be building in all classes as we start to plan our class tours, Sports Days and many other exciting activities.

Well done to the pupils in Mr. Conboy’s 2nd class who made their First Confession last week and are getting set for their First Holy Communion Day on Friday May 6th.

Welcome to the March edition of our school newsletter. We have had another extremely busy month in St. Pat’s.

Our Open Day was a great success. Many new parents visited the school throughout the day and were impressed with our bright school, large playground and many other facilities. We look forward to welcoming our new pupils in September.

We extended a very warm welcome to three new pupils from Ukraine who have recently joined us. They are settling into school life in Ireland very well and we are just delighted to have them here with us in St. Pat’s.

We held a wonderful concert to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in our school. It was fantastic and raised funds for Irish Red Cross. RTE & Virgin Media showcased the concerts on TV, even live on St. Patrick’s Day! Well done to all involved.

Principal’s Desk

Welcome to the first edition of our new school newsletter. Each class will have their own page to show all the wonderful work taking place in our school.

Spring, for many, is a symbol of new beginnings. As Covid restrictions are easing, we are looking forward to welcoming everyone back into St. Pats. After-school activities will be resuming soon and we intend to reopen our school library also.

Our Open Day will take place in March. If you know any children interested in enrolling with us for September 2022, ask them to contact the school. Places in some classes are limited and other classes are full.

I hope you enjoy reading our newsletter. Do let us know what you would like to see more of in future editions. A big thank you to Ms. Molloy and Mr. Monaghan for coordinating our school newsletter.
