Junior Entrepreneur

The Junior Entrepreneur Programme (J.E.P.) is an initiative often undertaken by the senior classes in our school.

Below is an account written by the pupils of Mr. Holland’s 6th in class in 2017 of their experience of the J.E.P.

BUSY BEADS – 2017

Our product last year was called ‘Busy Beads’ and it was really popular. We achieved a whopping €540 profit and donated €200 to the Galway Hospice.
The whole project was a remarkable experience. We learned about market research, finance, advertising, promotion, sales, profit and loss, design and production, creating PowerPoints and making presentations.
We gained invaluable advice from local businesspersons Eugene and Ronan Greaney of ‘Dough Bros’ and we really enjoyed presenting our ideas to the Dragons in the School Hall.
We also had a School Showcase Day to promote our product which proved to be a huge success.

Green Schools

St Pat has achieved three Discovery Primary Science and Maths Awards. The whole school worked hard alongside Ms O’Connell to obtain the plaque of excellence and have had a lot of fun in the process.

This award focuses on all of our science and maths achievements. It is based on five sections; Science (investigations and Science Week Activities), Technology (DPMSA blog), Engineering (Engineer’s week – interview), Maths and Stem showcase (Paper Airplanes).

The whole school has been working hard to obtain the plaque of excellence and have had a lot of fun in the process.

We have enjoyed learning about engineering, visiting discovery centres, hosting workshops, going on maths trails, participating in science investigations and talking to engineers.

We have also learned lots about technology through blogging about our science knowledge, participating in skype interviews and learning how to code.

We have also incorporated our maths knowledge into our science experiments.

Incredible Edibles

In 2018, our gardening team’s hard work paid off when we finished in second place in the nationwide Agri Aware Incredible Edibles Healthy Eating initiative.

As part of our prize, 30 children had a fun-filled day out at Dublin Zoo where we received an exciting tour of the family farm and fascinating walk around the zoo.
